He was advised by the Sharjah court to collect his passport from the Sharjah Police, but he was shocked to learn that his passport was lost from police custody.

sharjah police.. not surprised, once Mr. xyz was travelling back home from sharjah airport and was caught up a- taken into custody - seems there was a police complaint filed against him by Dubai police. spent a night in jail - contacted Dubai police - dubai police figures they held up Mr. xyz instead of the the xzy they were looking for (similarlly spelt names - BUT TOTALLY DIFFERENT NAMES!!). Dubai police drops Mr.xyz home and tells him "it was sharjah police so just...forget it"
oh btw i got a few more on sharjah police too..but never mind.
the last time i went to sharjah was 3 years back and that too to catch a flight from the Airport..
its a whole different crazy world out there...
