If you don't like it here you should leave

Means any of the following:

If you don't like it here and your job is not enhancing the country, then leave.
If you can't change it and still don't like it, then leave.
If what you don't like is a part of the religion or culture here, then leave.

I agree with many that there are plenty of faults in this country, and most of my complaints would be in the judicial field. I would still prefer to live here than anywhere else on this huge planet.
Lately I have heard lots of people saying, 'don't say this' (if you dont like it....) after they make a complaint about something. But, I still want to say it. I cannot understand why people want to make so much change in a country that they are unable to adopt as their own. They will always be visitors here and the joy of living in a foreign country is that most of it is indeed Foreign.
I know we have lots of gripes about things like the traffic and Eatsalad. But some folk want to diss every single thing here, and it makes me wonder why, they don't, just leave.

We all know the answer to this. You've mentioned some of them. The answer is quite simple. Those who think it isn't need to go home!

Interesting post, I've been thinking a lot about this lately, and why some moaning expats can't handle the statement/attitude. Read secretdubai's comment in the thread "Secret of Dubai's success".
People come here, wanting to change things - ahem ahem, to what things are like in the 'wonderful west' ^_^

Your last post summed it up- you have things that you would like to see changed. Most of us have. And that's true whether it's about where we live, where we work, where we shop, where we eat...many things need improving everywhere in the world, it isn't unique to Dubai. there's nothing wrong with complaining, we want things changed because we care.

The 'you can leave if you don't like it' stupidity completely misses the point.
